Sorry, that we can't support you with a workaround for the current release, but the problem has been fixed for KNIME 2.0. Regards, Thomas

This issue has been fixed as of KNIME 2.0. Referring command would be:
knime.exe -nosplash -consoleLog -noexit -reset -application org.knime.product.KNIME_BATCH_APPLICATION -workflowDir=“workspace/workflow_batch” -masterkey=“mymasterkey”
