I tried to get Access to the examples Server and get the following message: "Connecting to server "http://publicserver.knime.org:80/tomee/ejb" failed."

Hi wbart,
this is most probably because you are behind a proxy which does not allow the access to the server.
You can also parse and search the example server via our website here: https://www.knime.com/nodeguide
If you navigate to a workflow, at the end of each page you have the possibility to download the respective workflow.
