"check for new licenses(sleeping) OK" what does this mean?

When I open knime,this turn out on the Progress–"“check for new licenses(sleeping) OK”,what does this mean?Besides,if I want to download and open a remote items,I failed and it turned out"Unable to download workflow: Download failed: The entity is not backed by an input stream, entity class is:java.io.InputStream".
So what’s wrong with this?What should I do to deal with this?

If I want to download online items,I need to access the web via VPN.
