can somebody please tell me the origin of the data set from the DeepLearning4J example workflow(s)? I am not really interested in the source, more in the meaning.

Hi Marc,
the example dataset was generated. I think with the Visual 2 D Generator node. I don't know if it has a meaning. But the idea is that those two classes cannot be divided with a single linear function.
