I remember a time when I could drag and drop files (e.g. XLS) on to a workflow and KNIME would automatically place a XLS Reader node into the workflow.  This feature does not work anymore (for me at least), is there anything I need to configure in KNIME to activate this function?

I have just worked out why:  XLS can be opened like this, but XLSX cannot (No node factory........).

Thanks for your feature request. We will track it and will look into updating the underlying POI library to support office-X formats.

The XLS Reader can already read XLSX. In KNIME 2.12 you can also d&d xlsx file to a workflow.
