Extension already installed, but KNIME prompts to install it again, but it's not possible to install it again, because it's already installed

Hi all,

I’m running into a strange problem with the Geospatial Analytics Extension for KNIME on macOS using KNIME 5.4.4 (Apple Silicon) .

:exclamation:

Problem:

Although the extension is shown as installed in the “Installed Extensions” list, KNIME keeps prompting me to install it when I try to use a related node (e.g. Map View, Coordinate Formatter).

Even after reinstalling it successfully via the KNIME Hub or Install Extensions, I still get the same prompt.

It seems KNIME does not register the extension properly, even though the installation finishes without any errors.

:test_tube:

What I’ve already tested:

  • The extension is listed as installed in Help → About KNIME → Installation Details
  • After a clean restart, the same nodes still trigger the “install this extension?” dialog
  • I have tested other extensions, which install and work without issues
  • I verified that all update sites are active
  • I cleared workbench.xmi and restarted
  • I checked the /plugins/ folder and confirmed the .jar files for the geospatial extension are present
  • The KNIME log shows no errors related to the nodes or loading the extension

:bulb: System setup:

  • macOS (M3, Apple Silicon)
  • KNIME 5.4.4
  • Workspace: new and clean

Does anyone know how to force KNIME to re-index or rebind already installed extensions properly? Or is this a known issue with plugin registration on macOS?

Thanks in advance!

@ESGKNIME the solution for this suggested was to use the Intel version on Apple - this should work but you will miss out on some performance gains.

Thank you for your reply @mlauber71 .
This is more a workaround than a solution, but thank you. I will test this. I hope that this will be fixed in the near future.

With the Intel version for Apple it worked, but it’s way slower.
Thank you @mlauber71
