Feature request: sort selected columns alphabetically in Column Resorter node

Hi y’all,

In the Column Resorter node settings, alphabetic sorting always affects all columns, while f.e. ‘Move First’ can be done on a subset of columns. It would be a great enhancement if alphabetical sorting also could be restricted to selected columns only.

Thanks/Evert

Hi @evert.homan_scilifelab.se ,

I was bored and felt like a challenge! In the absence of a node, here is a component. Whilst it’s not something I’ve specifically had a need for, I can certainly see the use case when dealing with large numbers of generated columns, when you have maybe a set of columns on the left that you don’t want included in the sort.

I don’t want to take away from your feature request, but if it’s something you need to do with regularity, then maybe this component can help in part. I’d envisage using this just prior to the standard Column Resorter node, so that it places your desired columns into ascending/descending order and then use the Column Resorter to move the block up or down.

Here’s a demo. Enjoy!

Hello @evert.homan_scilifelab.se,

if I remember right I have already noted your request for subset ordering some time ago. When there will be news someone will update this topic.

Now there is new forum category - Feedback & Ideas where feature requests can be posted.
