Feature suggestion: more advanced node selection

Dear Knimers,

I think it would be useful to have some more powerful “photoshop-like” node selection tools for the workflow editor. I was thinking about the following selection features:

  1. Select all nodes upstream from the currently selected one
  2. Select all nodes downstream from the currently selected one
  3. Select all nodes upstream AND downstream from the currently selected one
  4. Select all nodes (in)directly connected to the currently selected one
  5. Invert node selection

This would greatly help with cleaning up workflows that have become messy/chaotic over time.

PS Example:

Suppose I have the following workflow, and I have the “Statistics” node selected:

  1. “Select all upstream nodes” would do this:
    image

  2. “Select all downstream nodes” would do this:
    image

  3. “Select all upstream and downstream nodes” would do this:
    image

  4. “Select all (in)directly connected nodes” would do this:
    image

  5. “Invert node selection” after “Select all (in)directly connected nodes” would do this:
    image

And it is not even in the highlights / changelogs :smile: Thanks guys!! :beers: I wonder if it will also appear in some form in the Modern UI…?
