First Practice on KNIME Example Server – My Observations

Why I chose KNIME:
I’m learning data analytics and needed a low-code, open-source tool that’s beginner-friendly.

What I learned:
I understood how nodes represent steps in data workflows. The visual interface makes it intuitive. Running examples gave me a good overview of CSV reading, missing value handling, and grouping.

Challenges:
Some example workflows required extensions that I had to install manually.

Issue or Question:
Is there a way to quickly identify which extensions are required for a workflow before opening it?

Hey and welcome to the forum,

to answer your question:

For Workflows you find on KNIME Hub, if you scroll down a little, you will see a section listing the extensions that are used.

Take this one as an example:

In fact, there is no need to identify required extensions. If you are opening wokflow with ‘missing’ nodes, KNIME informs the user about missing extension and proposes installation. The user’s task is only to read messages and click ‘OK’ buttons. No-code required
