How to avoid workflow variable modification to reset all nodes

Hello,

Each time I manually modify my workflow variable, all nodes are reset. However, some nodes access big database tables and I would like them not to be re-run each time I modify my workflow variable (it's taking too much time). Note that these database nodes do not use the workflow variable.

Any idea?

Maybe the quickforms nodes would work better in this case. I would use them instead of the workflow variables. It makes the dependency more visible in my opinion.
