# Is it possible to create subroutiens?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was a way to connect metanodes in a way that would allow a global change.&nbsp; For instance, If I have a metanode that is very complicated but is carried out in multiple places in a workflow is there a way to make a change to any one of those metanodes and have them all "update"?&nbsp; This would prevent the necessity of changing each one individually and human error.

Hi :)

As far as I know there is no such possibility in the so-called KNIME Desktop (or free) version. I think some of the other versions have such functionality.

The KNIME Desktop does allow sharing workflow only via the import/export mechanism, meta nodes can't be exchanged nor defined as re-useable workflow snippets. Those features are part of the KNIME TeamSpace and KNIME Server.
