KNIME 1.3.5 released

This is a maintenance release, that fixes some bugs (most importantly the Joiner bug, http://www.knime.org/node/328) but also adds some new nodes (especially ROC) and some other nice features. A full list of changes is at http://www.knime.org/news.html.

Hi,

http://www.knime.org/download/features/knime_extension_wizard_feature_1.3.5.zip is coming back object not found.

Jay

Fixed, thanks for the hint!

http://www.knime.org/download/features/knime_chemistry_types_feature_1.3.5.zip gives an object not found error when trying to download.

-Kirk

BTW - can I use the old one from the previous version?

Fixed.
BTW, you should use the Update Manager to update KNIME. These separately packaged features will vanish with 2.0 as it is quite time-consuming and error-prone (as you can see :?) to build them.

Yep, should work.

KNIME Team:

Thanks for fixing the R bug in this latest release..
We can now sleep better knowing that the R code won't wander away.

Dear Knime Team

I am trying Knime 1.3.5 on Fedora 9. Having had 1.2 running on other Linux setups I thought this would be straightforward. There is a java error on startup
(see below).

The default java on Fedora9 is as follows
[user2m@localhost knime_1.3.5]$ java -version
java version "1.6.0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b09)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 1.6.0-b09, mixed mode)

but the same error was obtained by setting PATH and CLASSPATH to the
jre/bin/java under the knime install directory.

FYI - The firefox version is 3.0 beta 5, error looks like a mozilla library issue.
Maybe a firefox 2 installation would not suffer these problems.

The error reported in the console by running knime.sh is as follows:

[user2m@localhost knime_1.3.5]$ ./knime.sh

Any help appreciated.

Hi Mark,

Did the node descriptions work before your upgrade to 1.3.5? One thing we changed is auto-detection of the MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME variable for the internal web browser if this environment variable is unset. As it is unset in your case, I would suspect, that the node descriptions haven't worked before. One thing you could do is setting MOZIILA_FIVE_HOME to anything else but "/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9pre", maybe to the empty string or another Mozilla-compatible browser (seamonkey, firefox). You could also permanently remove the auto-detection code in knime.sh if nothing else works. Please keep us updated if you find out anything.

Regards,

Thorsten

Hi Mark,

just wanted to add the solution to your problem. Most likely the problem is caused by the Firefox 3.0 installation that comes with Fedora 9. (See the eclipse bug report.)

To circumvent the problem you have two options:

  • Follow comment #22 of the above bug report, that is install an appropriate mozilla library
  • Start KNIME by providing an additional command line argument -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/dev/null (just add that line to the .knime.ini file, for instance). That way the node description does not work in KNIME (but at least KNIME does).
Hope it helps (let us know when it doesn't). Sorry for problems - that is something where we rely on eclipse.

Bernd
