KNIME crashes

newly installed KNIME 2.3.4 on newly installed ubuntu 11.04 running on new laptop i3 3 Gb crashes [very] frequently.

there is no error message, it is just suddenly not there anymore.

i don't have this behaviour at all on my other computer, which runs KNIME 2.3.4 as well, under ubuntu 10.10.

what can this be?

I have exactly the same problem with knime 2.4.0 installed on 64bit Ubuntu 9.10: it crashes while executing a node.

Any suggestion/solution?

Does the process leave some log file behind? Usually, it's creating either a core dump file (which is really hard to diagnose) or a file call hs_err_pidxyz.log. Do you find any of these in your home/working directories?

Thanks for your prompt reply.

What do you mean with 'core dump file'? The only file I found is the knime.log, but it doesn't contain any useful information.

Is there anything abnormal in .metadata/.log file or any hs_err_pidxyzlog files in the KNIME installation directory? Thanks for looking into it, again.

I've upgraded my OS to 10.4 and knime to the latest version, but it keeps on crashing.

This error indicated that you are creating a new KNIME workflow from the intro page but a flow with this name (KNIME_project) already exists. I don't know why but you can circumvent this problem by closing the intro page instead of clicking on the "Open Workbench" icon. We should handle this more gracefully, though.

I've tried your suggestion, but unfortunately without any improvement...this is the last part of the .metadata/.log file
