Knime Performance Under Linux vs Windows vs IOS

Hello Everyone…!
I would like to know if there is any performance gap on using Knime under any of three mayor OS.
I want to work under the most suitable OS, cause the workflows are under heavy memory load due to large datasets.
Is there any difference related to performance and memory management?

thanks in advance

Hector.

Hi Hector,

that’s a very interesting question. I have never thought about it myself, but our relevant developers have been pinged and I will come back to you once I know more.

Hi Hector,

KNIME uses java JVM and hence memory management is independent of the OS. There might be slight differences in terms of I/O, e.g. it’s known that file creation in some configurations of Windows is slower than on, e.g. Linux. Also system protection (like Windows Defender, see FAQ
https://www.knime.com/faq#q38 ) may have an impact on start-up time.

But once KNIME and the underlying virtual machine are up and ‘warm’, you shouldn’t notice any difference.
