Production Planning in KNIME? Is it possible?

Hi Knimers!

Question: we are looking at possibly using KNIME as production planning & scheduling tool. Basically, we want to move manufacturing production planning from Excel into KNIME to create a report and/or app that will help managers schedule production runs by understanding current inventory levels against incoming orders and plan accordingly.

I wanted to ask if anyone has tried building something like this in KNIME before? Are there any good resources that may help us develop such a solution?

I envision a rule-based model that pulls in order vs inventory data and spits out an optimized production plan. We’re also considering a KNIME data app that would give managers the ability to try different ‘what-if’ scenarios.
