Regex split issue

I’m looking for the correct regex split command to make the following split:
59. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
in 3 columns
59.
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
(1964)

The problem is the “.” in Dr. Strangelove

([\d]+\.)(?: )(.*)(?: )(\([\d]+\))
