string replacer node behaviour [bug?]

the string replacer node [data manipulation/column/convert&replace] has an interesting behaviour.

it often does not pick up the string, so nothing happens.

but if you select "make new column", then it works, and it keeps working once you deselect that option.

Can you please give some more details on how to reproduce the problem. Which KNIME version are you using on which system?
