Unable to Install Extensions After Installing 4.2

In uninstalled version 3.7 and installed 4.2.

I’m unable to install any extensions. File >> Install KNIME Extensions generates the error ‘Contacting Software Sites’ has encountered a problem. The error message details show 3 URLs
https://update.knime.com/community-contributions/trusted/4.2/content.xml
https://update.knime.com/partner/4.2/content.xml
https://update.knime.com/analytics-platform/4.2/content.xml

I put all 3 URLs into my browser and all generate the error message ‘The requested URL was not found on the server’

What’s the fix for this?

You can adjust the download site via preferences -> Install/Update -> Available Software Sites. Remove the /content.xml part at the end from each link and try install extensions again.

preferences -> Install/Update -> Available Software Sites shows all available options selected. When I go directly to the site in my web browser(removing Content.xml) I get 2 different error messages.

  1. https://update.knime.com/analytics-platform/4.2 generates the error - This page is not meant for human browsing.
  2. all other sites generate the error - Forbidden

Those are indeed not meant for human browsing. Can you check the logs after an unsuccessful attempt to see whether it contains any helpful information?

A workaround would be to use a local, zipped update site: https://www.knime.com/downloads/update

I downloaded the .zip file and installed extensions from the zip.
