Using KNIME on OpenSuSE with MariaDB with MySQL connector

Hi,

I've doing some work which needs to be on OpenSuSE and with MariaDB (described as "An enhanced, drop-in replacement for MySQL").

I've installed KNIME on OpenSuSE 13.1 and it runs (mostly) successully (the one error I'll raise in another topic).

I had to downloaded the MySQL java connector (mysql-connector-java-5.1.30) rather than default OpenSuSE 1-click install YaST .ymp so I could add the .jar via preferences > knime > database driver as normal

I've checked via Database Connector node and can see com.mysql.jdbc.Driver etc and can configure the node as normal.

I've run a couple of test Database Reader node queries and everything seems to be OK so far.

I'll keep using and if there are any issues I'll come back here and update this thread.

I thought I'd share in case anyone else was in an environment with MariaDB.

Cheers,

Andy

Instead of downloading and registering the MySQL JDBC driver manually, you can also just install the "Common JDBC drivers" from the KNIME Update Site.
