# v5.x.x issue - Excel worksheets

**Description:**  
When working with an Excel file ( **that is defined using a variable** ) with multiple worksheets, if you select a sheet that is not the first one, then when you reset the node (e.g. monthly file) and open the Excel config box, the previously selected sheet is not selected; rather, the first radio button is selected.

This is very annoying (and for obvious reasons very dangerous) especially if you have a large number of sheets in a single file.

I don’t know if this is a bug - could be by design.

This happened in the previous version as well. I don’t think it happened in v4.x…

**Steps to reproduce:**

1. Select Excel Reader
2. Select an Excel file ( **using a variable** ) with multiple worksheets
3. Select any worksheet, but not the first one.
4. Run - all good.
5. Save, close KNIME and restart
6. Open the workflow and click configure in the Excel node.
7. The previously selected node is no longer selected; rather, the first option is selected!

**Actual results:**  
In my example, I had previously selected Networx Adjustments. Now it is preselected to the first worksheet “Networx Report”.

**Expected results:**  
Previously selected worksheet (Networx Adjustment) should be pre-selected.

@sw1336 there is this very old thing. I am not sure if it is related but it might be:
