workflow source code for migration

Hi,

Trying to understand how much one would be locked-in with the vendor like Knime. As it’s considered to be open-source, what it would mean if suddenly a company would want to move all workflows onto another ML/DS platform. Would that be complete re-work or would one be able to extract source code (Java, Python, R) and put that on another platform as a custom node. Here I am not checking the target platform capabilities, just what Knime allows.

Hi Doville,

you cannot just take a KNIME Workflow and deploy the code behind. You always need to use a KNIME Analytics Platform or KNIME Server to run this.

However as we are open source, you can fully use your KNIME Workflows for free unlimited.
So there is no need to switch :slight_smile:
