I would suggest to add some sort of filter to the KNIME explorer view. If you have many workflows in a folder sometimes it is hard to keep track. An option to filter by name (or tag) would be great. The old UI had something but it was somewhat slow and not so easy to handle.
Of course one challenge is to indicate that some sort of filter is active.

Show additional information of space items make absolutely sense. And, as you mentioned, a filter option would also help users to find specific items.
We just need to find a handy way for local and remote space items to not only deal with workflows and components but also other space items (that could be added, updated, … by other workflows, components, or via the “add files” features …).
“Additional information” to the space item name
The amount of “columns” could get long and some users have limited space. So, the description, external resources, additional component information (type; port information, option information, view information) might be (in my opinion) too much.
I created a ticket for adding these “columns” and the option to sort/filter for them — NXT-3137.
