All AI Nodes gone

Dear KNIME-users,

I just opened a workflow after not having it used for around a week and discovered that all nodes relating to the AI extension were gone. Not just uninstalled, but completely gone. I cannot find them in the node explorer either. The only thing that I have changed is that I have tried K-AI.

Here is what I tried:

  1. Uninstalled the AI Extension
  2. Uninstalled and reinstalled KNIME
  3. Checked that I could also see the nodes in the interface

It would be great if someone has found a solution to this problem.

this seems really odd - can you share some information on what version you were when you last successfully used the nodes and what version you are on right now?

I cannot recall that I upgraded my version since the last time I used the nodes successfully.

I would have thought that I accidentally deleted them out of the workflow but I have multiple metanodes that I had duplicated, and exactly where the model selector and prompt node were, now there is nothing.

How long ago was it that you last opened the WF successfully?

Does someone else have access to your workspace?

Really the only way that I see that this can happen is:

  1. You open a KNIME installation w/o AI extension installed
  2. You use your workspace and open the WF
  3. You ignore the message to search for missing extension and do not install them
  4. You save the workflow

And even with that I am sort of not 100% sure if the nodes are then really gone missing…

But you also said that you cannot find the OpenAI nodes etc. in your node repository?

Can you check if Starter nodes only is checked in Preferences? When I check that my AI nodes are gone as well:

Probably around a week ago I would say.

I notice that when I drag and drop the nodes from the a collection, it tells me that I need to install the extension, but when I click on “next”, nothing reacts. I confirm that I cannot find the nodes in the node explorer.

Unfortunately I vaguely remember such problems occuring occasionally with some extensions not being able to be installed.

Maybe you could try a fresh installation of knime

Have to admit I am also out of ideas…

You wouldn’t happen to be using macos? Mine disappeared too until I applied this fix noted in this announcement:
