Allow for simple open of file that was created by Write Node

I could not find a current post or discussion around this topic.

How can we easily open a file from a Writer node automatically after creation? This was a basic function in Alteryx and I am really finding it to be a definitive pain point.

I believe this feature was removed a while back, but I think it should be revisited.

Even some basic dropdown option after the node executes would be useful. The checkbox option to open after execution does not appear to be working for the Excel Writer node. Not sure why.

Hi @aehrenworth , when you say “open a file from a Writer node automatically after creation”, do you mean open it outside of KNIME in a native app associated with the specific file type?

So for example after writing a CSV file, you can open the file directly in an associated external editor (e.g. vs code)?
