Welcome to the forum!

Based on the error, it looks like you are a standard user and the installation is done by an admin user. However, while installation, the admin user missed to give write permissions so any user can install extension / updates.

This is my best guess.

Actually, a similar error was faced by me some time back and then I moved away from installation and always using the zip file to avoid problems. If you also have the same problem, I recommend you to go with zip file rather than installation.
