Basic Reporting Question

My goal is to produce a basic report with page breaks; however, I can’t see how to enter the BIRT designer, which is where I think I need to be. In researching BIRT, I see where many have a toolbar that is used to enter the environment; however, I don’t have that toolbar in my version (5.4.4). I added the Data to Report (BIRT) node and ran it, but I still can’t see how to enter a BIRT configuration window. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Do you have the Knime Reporting extension installed? That should give you the ability to check the enable reporting box

May I point you to the docs for the BIRT designer KNIME BIRT Report Designer User Guide ?
Hopefully you’ll find answers to your questions there.

@hdavis54 you btw do no longer need to use BIRT, we now have our own Reporting integration which is a lot easier.

For BIRT you need to go to the Classic User Interface.

Thanks for the replies. I finally figured out that I needed to switch to the Classic User Interface to follow along with the reference BIRT user guide mentioned by knimediger, but couldn’t find in it what I was looking for. However, I did find a YouTube video that tracked along with what I needed as a very new user: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPvUNR09bWQ&t=152s.

Thanks Iris for the heads up on the Reporting integration. I assume this is available through the new user interface? Can you point me to a good resource on the basics of using it?

Thanks MartinDDDD for the valuable information. A little more advanced for me at this point, but I value the concept and will likely revisit the idea in the future.

Thanks again for the feedback on the Reporting integration. I looked at the resources mentioned by mlauber71, but didn’t see in them how to accomplish the basic report that I was trying to create. What I’m trying to do is just report the data itself from a table, no graphs or charts just the data itself from a single table where the desired report has page breaks at a change in category. For example, if the detailed rows from the table have a field named region, then for each change in region the report has a page break. I see how I can use BIRT to do this, but can this be done in the new Reporting integration instead of BIRT?

From my own personal experience with both BIRT Reporting and KNIME Reporting I can confirm that KNIME Reporting is lacking many “features” which are required for “standard reports”.

Maybe this feature (page break for categories) could be included into the KNIME reporting functionality?
Hopefully we see KNIME reporting improving quickly.
