Best way to share connections with hub users

Hi experts,

I`m looking for best practices and suggestions on how to share DB connection details with other hub users or myself.

Use case: I frequently need to connect to DBs for ad hoc analysis, but I don’t want to add the connection details every time.

Thanks!!

Fernando

Hi @fvizcaino,

you might want to check out the secret manager:

Hi @mwiegand ,

Thanks for your reply.

I’m using the secret manager for the private key, but I can’t figure out how to add the connection details there as well. Is that also available in the secrets manager?

I`m looking to share these details with the team so they don’t need to worry about the technical details of connecting to a database.

If you have any suggestions/best practices for managing connections, I would highly appreciate those as well.

Thank you so much!

Fernando

Hello @fvizcaino ,

the suggested way would be to create a component that contains the Snowflake Connector and the Secret Retriever node. Once the component is read you can share it with your colleagues.

We plan to introduce sharing of connection settings in a similar way as secrets for the future but we are still in the planning phase. The idea is that users can share variables such as strings or integers with other users or teams. These variables can be used in a component via the “Variables Retriever” node e.g. to parameterize a DB Connection.
