I had to upgrade my notebook to a MacOS and when trying to open some of the workflows that I had on my previous Win11 computer, it complained about missing nodes, as expected, but I wasn’t able to install the same combination of version that I had before.
Due to our KNIME Hub server version, I have to use the KNIME Analytics Platform 5.3.1
On my Win11 PC I see these versions:
KNIME Analytics Platfom: 5.3.1v202408061929
KNIME Tableau Integration: 5.3.0v202406180948
On MacOS:
KNIME Analytics Platform: 5.3.1v202408061929
But this shows up when I try to install the same KNIME Tableau Integration version:
I’ve tried updating the KNIME Analytics Platform to the newest version on the MacOS with M4 and even with that, the Tableau Integration doesn’t work.
No error message, just freezes the installation.
Would you know if the Tableau Integration is just for x64 platforms?
That’s my only assumption as of now.
unfortunately, the Tableau Integration compatible with Apple Silicon Macs (which I assume you switched to) is only available from Analytics Platform version 5.4 and up. Here’s the release announcement.
As a workaround, you could use the “x86_64 (Intel)” download of KNIME, which should be able to install the Tableau extension. However, since this version runs under macOS Rosetta2 emulation, it can feel less “snappy” than the native Apple Silicon version in our experience.
Thank you for the information.
I’ve installed a local copy with the 5.4 and I’ll try the emulated version if that doesn’t work.
In parallel, I’ll contact our knime hub admin to check if we can upgrade the server to 5.4 as well.
