I have students that aren’t able to answer the KNWF file that I share. I am on a macbook, and I believe they are on Windows. This has happened with two separate students. The workflow I believe they are using is:
Download from the LMS (i.e. Blackboard)
Open KNIME and select the workspace
From their downloads, import the workflow from the local view
Double click the workflow from their list.
For the latest student, I saw the file in their workspace list, and after clicking it, nothing happened.
I saw a few “similar” posts but they all appeared to be related to either Community flows are attempts to open from outside KNIME itself.
Any guidance or flows that are known to cause this behavior? I see other students following along in class, and the OS varies, so I am curious as to what could be isolated to the two students local environments. I admit I wish I had more information for this topic, but I do not have access to these machines as we are on Spring Break.
Hi @Brock_Tibert, did you check if the version of the KNIME are same on their computer (This will be the first step)?
Then check can they create any workflows (which I think they must).
If you can share the dummy workflow made of same version we can help.
These files are zip files so you should be able to unpack them and import the results as a folder into knime. You could see if the files are valid and not corrupted.
@mlauber71 can you elaborate on how to import the unzipped files? I am on a Mac, and after running unzip on the .knwf file, I can see the underlying assets as you mentioned. However, in KNIME, I am unsure as to what I am importing, and where.
The files I share with my students appear to work for nearly everyone, so this is not a wide-scale issue as far as I can tell, which is why I am little confused about how to guide those (~ 2-3 students) who are having issues (out of ~ 50).
Thank you. It took a moment to realize that you meant creating a new workspace instead of adding the files to an existing workspace. I will recommend this as an alternative approach.
