Can't restore the snapshot (full or partial)

Hello KNIMer:
I am currently onsite at a customer environment testing the snapshot and restore process for KNIME Business Hub. (1.17.0 version, Air-gap installation, RHEL OS)

During the restore operation (via admin console), the process fails when recreating resources, particularly Istio-related objects (VirtualServices), due to missing admission webhooks (validation.istio.io) and absent istiod service.

At this point:

  • MinIO is reachable and backups are listed (velero backup get)

  • Istio webhooks have been removed

  • Restore still fails consistently during application resource creation

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Is there anything unusual about the customer’s KBH?

  • Was it originally installed as a kURL installation or as an ArgoCD installation?
  • Did you try to restore using the icon in the KOTS Admin Console (please don’t) or using the restore script (the supported method)?
  • Is this a restore to the same machine or to a different machine?

This seems like the kind of thing that you should open a Support ticket for. Best practice to submit a ticket

Thank for the response, I have checked the script, it is a list of thins to make sure all legacy resources have been clear, then back to the “kubectl kots restore –from-backup …”, same thing as via Admin Console interface is doing …

So I still got the same results as the before…. 19 errors and 599 warings.

It is KURL installation and I am running backup/restore on the same machine, we are trying to do the hot restore while system is still running.

Somehow I have problem opening the ticket and this is a matter of urgent ….
