chrome_elf.dll: Access is denied

I’m in a corporate environment, and I’m the lone Knime user in my department. Knime (extracted and run from the zip archive, can’t use installers) runs fine on my machine. In order to share a workflow with a colleague, I just tried to run Knime on their machine (also by unpacking and running the zip archive), but I get a ‘error occured’ message and upon checking the log, it seems to be an ‘Access denied’ error for the chromium engine (chrome_elf.dll: Access is denied).

I checked the security settings (Win10) for the folder (the knime_5.3.0 folder and the workspace folder all live a Knime folder on the C: drive) and I set everything to ‘Full control’ for the user, but to no avail.

Our corporate IT overlords restrict running browsers other than Edge, so I wonder, if it’s related to that? But then I wonder why Knime is running on my machine, but not on my colleagues’ machine? Any insights would be appreciated.

The culprit seems indeed to be the ability to run Chrome. I can run a portable version of the Chrome browser on my machine, but not on my colleagues machine. I assume, that would also extend to the Chromium engine. For some reason, I must have elevated privileges.
