Hi,
the Column Resorter keeps listing removed columns even after re-execution which in general is a nice feature as it ensures, after they were added again, they are sorted in the former spot but it creates an issue that if the removal was desired, a full reset is required to get the missing column removed.
Hence, I’d like suggest to add an “X” respectively “delete missing” button.

@mwiegand it’s not a bug it’s a feature …

He he, I believe it’s indeed on purpose as I faced a few times the issue that missing columns went without a trace and I noticed it only way down the stream.
Hey,
keeping the missing values is intended, but I agree that we need a way to delete single/multiple missing columns easily without having to reset the whole dialog. We already have a ticket for it (internal reference UIEXT-1827).

Hey ho,
what about displaying an “X” Icon left / right to the missing column name? It’ clear what it will trigger, is unobtrusive and serves the purpose of keeping a missing column as well.
Furthermore, a Knimer wouldn’t be required to select each missing column, then move the mouse to and click the delete button plus it eliminates the UX-deadlock of displaying a button that is only working conditionally.
Cheers

Hey,
yes that makes sense and is one idea. I guess we would still need to create a button to clear all missing values, which is why we also thought about adding a context menu to clear one/all missing columns. But that would introduce a second click needed to get rid of a missing value + is probably more hidden.
Greetings,
Daniel
