I am tryting to help a colleague getting access to an older version of the Columns Expressions nodes.
However, I seem to have a problem with the update sites.
So this is my situation:
We run KNIME 5.2.3 (as the last compliant version from our own internal software basket)
When I check via Preferences > Install / Update > Available Software Sites, I can see that all sites for this version (KNIME Analytics Platform 5.2 Update Site / KNIME Community Extensions Update Site) are available and activated
However, when we open the Install Extensions dialogue and search for Column Expression, it only shows the 5.4.0 version of the extension. Trying to install this fails. I was expecting to see the 5.2.0 version but no matter what we do, it doesn’t show up.
We checked the “usual suspects”:
“Show only software applicable to my target environement” → checked
“Hide items that are already installed” → unchecked and the extension is not there
I was assuming, that KNIME would also suggest the “earlier” versions but somehow only 5.4.0 shows up. Is my assumption eventually wrong?
Which version of AP did you “start” with? Can you confirm that you did not start with 5.4 and are trying to install a 5.2 Column Expressions into it? I don’t think this is expected to work in general (though one might have luck with some extensions), because we release our extensions in-tandem with each other and sometimes they depend on changes in a specific version (which the lower bound dependency range should enforce).
If a changed update site seems to not work, I think selecting it and clicking “Reload” can sometimes help.
Unfortunately I cannot say, with which version the original workflow was created. Officially it “should have been” 5.2.3 but we all know, that these things (different versions, downloads from the internet etc.) simply happen
You should not need to. My particular instance just has this set so I don’t get bugfix updates offered (I have a lot of versions installed for testing).
Now I configured the 5.2 update site (without bugfix version):
Based on the identifier offered in the “More…” link on the Install Extension wizard, it is the same as the KNIME Column Expressions (legacy) in 5.4, which is shown on Community Hub: KNIME Column Expressions (legacy) – KNIME Community Hub
It also gets offered when I drag&drop the extension icon from Hub.
I think it was renamed with the introduction of the new Expression node.
I don’t know why you get shown a 5.4 version in your 5.2 installation at all. Could you post a screenshot of your update sites?
