Create a report for powerpoint

Hi

I use Knime 2.9 with the BIRT extension, and I am not able to view a report as PPT; when I try to open the file with Powerpoint 2010, I have a message "Powerpoint is not able to read : <<filename>>; (When I view a report as DOC , it works); does someone has an of the issue?

Hi Loys,

Probably the following BIRT ticket is related: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=328982. Probably there are different emitters that also target PowerPoint, so I would check those.

Thanks, it looks that several persons have got the same issue, in the mean time, I will use Word and wait for a fix

I have tried to use BIRT directly on  myPC with the same parameters used in Knime Report Designer and Powerpoint file generation works fine.

Which version of PowerPoint were you using this time? (That might help others deciding.)

I would also plug the Arctorus BIRT emitters, which seem quite nice (albeit from limited experience).  Be aware that they are commercial products.

Hi

I want to generate a PPTX file and - maybe - the Arctorus PPTX emitter would be an option.

At the moment I am not sure if the installation of a 3rd party eclipse plugin would in the KNIME-Eclipse world and I do not know which BIRT version is used in KNIME 2.10.x

 

Any idea?

Hi all

Just for completeness:

I downloaded the Arctorus PPTX emitter in version 3.7.2 and that works with KNIME 2.10.x or lower. Just follow this link: https://www.arctorus.com/arctorus-birt-emitters/installation

You can use it imidiately for test purposes. It works! You can open the exported PPTX with the current Powerpoint version.

But what I do not like is that tables in BIRT are not table in Powerpoint afterwards. It looks like a table but is a mixture of test fields placed on a graphic that represents the table frame. This is similar to what you get with BIRT's built-in PPT emitter.

Whereas in a DOC(X) file the generated table is really a table in a Word DOC(X) file.
