Difficult aligning nodes

nodes unaligned

Good day
On some occasions I find it difficult to align two nodes next to each other, as seen in the attached image.

I like to keep my workflow and clean and professional looking as possible. As such, I like keeping my nodes in-line whenever possible. Sometimes when I select a new node and drag it into my workflow it refuses to snap in-line with the preceding node. It’s either one “increment” above or below the centre. I’ve tried ctrl+shift+arrow keys, which moves a node one increment at a time but it will still snap one increment above or below the centre.

Has anyone found a fix for this? My workflows contain many of these instances and it bothers me whenever I see it.

Hi @William_Alexand,

I assume you are using Modern UI (which is the current default). For the very reason you highlighted, I prefer the Classic UI ass the snap to grid respectively overall grid feature, was not introduced (yet) to MUI.

Switch to Classic UI:

Press the workflow settings button:

To globally adjust this, find the corresponding setting in the preferences:

And modify the settings too your liking:

Thanks for the assist and the well documented instructions!

It’s a shame that the modern UI doesn’t have this feature as I mostly prefer it over classic.

Yepp, I feel you … feel rest assured there is a group oof Knimers that keep pushing to get these gaps closed upon any opportunity
