Eclipse 4.3M6 - Cannot install via update site

Hi all,

is there a way to install KNIME on the latest Eclipse release? There is an error message when trying to install on Eclipse 4.3M6.

Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.

Before I saw your question, I was assuming they could simply be kept separate.  That is, I was hoping I could download the latest version of Eclipse, and write test Java snippets in it, without messing up my current installation of Knime.

What is your goal when you say "install KNIME on the latest Eclipse release"?

All the best,

Bill

Good Morning

I don't believe KNIME works with the latest eclipse.

Cheers

Sam

As KNIME relies heavily on the eclipse platform, we are indeed tied to specific versions.  For our current release of KNIME Desktop (2.7), the latest support version of eclipse is 3.7.

Aaron

What is your goal when you say "install KNIME on the latest Eclipse release"?

I would like to use KNIME in combination with my chromatography/mass spectrometry software OpenChrom (http://www.openchrom.net). OpenChrom offers huge support for vendor specific data format conversions. Hence, it would be great to offer Nodes for chromatogram reading and writing operations within KNIME. But the next OpenChrom release is based on Eclipse 4.x, cause the 3.x series will be switched to maintenance mode with the next Eclipse release 4.3 (Kepler) in June 2013.

Are there any plans in KNIME to offer 4.x support?

eselmeister

I downloaded and installed the latest Eclipse yesterday, and it works fine along side Knime.  Knime seems to install itself as a complete package, relying only on a java install.  Eclipse likewise needs to point to a java install.  Both seem happy and not to know about each other.

All the best,

Bill

Hi, that sounds promising. But I've tried it both with the latest release 4.2.2 and the latest milestone 4.3M6 without success. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit. Which version did you take?

Cheers,
