exporting excel tablefield with 2000 characters into access db does not work

Dear all,

I have an exceltable with a field containing 2000 characters.
Reading this exceltable with excel reader works ok; all 2000 characters are visible.

When trying to write into access db using DB writer error occurs:
ERROR DB Writer 4:73 Execute failed: UCAExc:::4.0.4 data exception: string data, right truncation; table: MEMO column: “FAULT DESCRIPTION”

I tried to map the column in DB writer from string to varchar - without success.

Remark: Exceltable can be imported to access without problems.

Does anyone has an idea how to solve this in Knime?

@Heinz if you want to store huge text fields you can use the MEMO format in MS Access.

Knime data upload to Access database.

@ManishaDM if you absolutely must you can use the MEMO format to store larger strings in MS Access: CREATE TABLE SampleTable ( ID AUTOINCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, LargeTextField MEMO, Description TEXT(255) ); [image] kn_forum_72872_ms_access_large_text_variable.knwf (128.9 KB) But as @ScottF has said. You might want to consider using an alternative SQL database

@Heinz I think the MEMO format has to be there in the first place. I have not seen an option to create this format with the DB Table Creator but you might try.
