Fun question: why is the Rule Engine Node "green"?

Hi my dear KNIMErs,

while I was telling some of my peers how great KNIME is (aka “teaching”), I got a question I could not answer.

The “KNIME Visual Language” says, that Transform Nodes are yellow. Why is the Rule Engine Node green?

Is it because it is so powerful and the KNIME team wants to emphasize this? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Happy to hear your thoughts / theories…

Hello @kowisoft,

cause it’s also a predictor node? Only instead training model which rules you then apply to unseen data here you already know the rules (e.g. from experience) to apply on your data. And by default column you can append is called prediction. That of course doesn’t mean this node (and as many others) can be used for other purposes.

Ivan

I can also confirm this, this is the thought behind it.

In the UK and maybe elsewhere there is an expression… “The exception proves the Rule”…

So it seems quite appropriate :joy:

Hahaha, that’s awesome @takbb

I also now know where my misconception came from: I just looked at the cheat sheets and there is one that showcases it as a transform node

But as you guys have explained, it makes much more sense.
