The first program I ever wrote was on punch cards. Each run required handing my box of cards to an operator behind a counter and hoping he wouldn’t drop it and scatter my program across the floor.
I have since learned dozens of languages and hundreds of tools, each time dreading the bug, crash, or inconsistency that would inevitably appear and waste my time.
Knime is the exception. The node-based interface is elegant and intuitive, but most importantly it works. No matter how convoluted, Knime grinds through the process.
Beyond that, the workflow coach, extensive documentation, and amazing forum answer every question.
I started even before the punch card era with machine calculators. I too have learned many programming languages since then and used many data and modeling tools. I find that I can do almost everything in KNIME. I taught over 200 foreign students to use KNIME successfully in a foreign student Data Science program at the University of California, Irvine. KNIME is an outstanding teaching tool.
Congratulations KNIME!
