How to clean up node connections in the new GUI?

How can I tidy the connections in the new GUI? There used to be a button for that in the old one, used it all the time to straighten the workflow out etc.

Hi,

It is lack of these ā€˜simpleā€™ things that I believe shy people away from permanently switching to the new GUI. Another one is a search bar to query local workflows, ticket NXT-1648.

Any estimate when we can expect NXT-79 to be implemented? Until then I will continue to use the old GUI.

Hey,

this is currently short-to-mid-term on our roadmap. I expect this will be in the summer release (and in the nightly before that as soon as it is ready, naturally), but of course I cannot give guarantees.

While weā€™re on it:

  • Which of the autolayout features did you use most / the least? Particularly the fully ā€œauto-layoutā€ vs. aligning horizontally/vertically.
  • Is there anything about this area of features that you would like to see improved?

Auto-layout definitely, donā€™t think I ever use the other ones.

Would it be possible to only auto-align selected nodes? So, with nothing selected all nodes would be auto-aligned, with some nodes selected only these would be auto-aligned within the rest of the nodes.

I used to use the horizontal and vertical alignment layout features a lot, that is when they still existed. Auto-align on its own is okay for a first cleanup or within meta nodes where there is no happening much.

However, as workflows become more complex, the two more surgical features become definitely more useful than auto-align.
