How to enter the file's password using flow variable in Excel Reader?

Hi,

I’m entering the password through an input file and convert it to variable (string), and I want to select this variable as the password to be used to open an excel file in Excel Reader. Under tab Flow Variables’ encryption section there is a password field, but if I enter the variable Password it does nothing.

I expect I’m missing a step where the pw should be encrypted, but all the posts I found are about credentials for DB and they’re not helpful for my situation.

@liuwenwen welcome to the KNIME forum. It seems you have to use credentials in order to handle passwords with Flow Variables:
