As a comparison, even though not all option do apply, here is the List Files/Folders node:
I’d like to suggest adding these options.

the report pdf writer and the html writer will get a very basic file chooser with 5.3.
It is not yet in the final shape and we will improve it further in the future to support KNIME locations better. But it is already much better than having a plain text field 
Sidenote: KNIME relative paths are already possible, you just need to type them yourself. (see attached screenshot)
