Install Knime multiple times on Windows for debugging

Hi,

the instability issues I face in

are becoming so problematic that I am tempted to test whenever something with the isntallation or extensions got corrupted. I tried to install knime a second time in another sub-directory but the installer requires to uninstall the existing installation first.

On OSX I can simply craete a “-bak” app. On Windows I can start two instances of the very same app (Knime). Is it possible to install multiple versions of Knime on Windows in parallel? that would significantly improve:

  1. Debugging
  2. Version to version comparison

Virtualization might be an option, however I feel that does not result in an apples to apples comparison and the upfront effort to install, setup and keep both VMs perfectly aligned (plus the ressource impact of running both in parallel), feels not being the best approach to begin with.

Best
Mike

It definitely is! This topic floats by from time to time.

I would recommend creating different workspace folders for each version that you maintain and use the export function if you are moving workflows from one version to another.

The download page is not directly accessible anymore it seems. The form seems to be required to get filled out, though. Anyways, theank for pointing out the ZIP, I only recalld it for OSX / Linux.

It’s token based I see. Navigate to the downloads page, at the very end click on the last link.

After answering the question, you’ll end up on the page with all the previous versions going back to V1.3.5  Pick up the ZIP version from there.
