I started to update Knime, by downloading the recent ZIP, on my laptop. An issue reported during the community hacking days seems not resolved:
PS: My user has admin prviledges. Interestingly, upon deliberately launching it as admin, I was able to install extensions.
PPS: Despite starting as admin, adding and modifying repositories and installing extensions, the settings were not saved.
PPPS: I tested extracting via WinRar with the saem results. Using 7Zip however, resolved the issue. It seems there are some permissions present, which are restored during extraction, using the Windows build in extration mechanism or WinRar.
7Zip seems to not restore file/folder permissions by default, though.
