I’ve been searching in the forum, the hub, and google looking for work flows to help with inventory optimization (prevent stockouts, when to reorder given a manufacturing lead time to minimize warehousing costs but ensure enough product to ensure good customer experience with quick delivery. I’ve come across two separate workflows where one seems to feed the other, but I can’t find anywhere any blog, explanation, or documentation that explains the workflows. This topic is relatively new to me, so I’d like to understand the data being passed through (what the headers/fields represent) to make sure that I request the appropriate data elements from clients, vendors, and fulfillment centers.
Does anyone have any ideas where I can find deeper understanding or explanation/blog of the workflows?
Is there a learning center that goes through these?
I did some digging, and I couldn’t find any blog that corresponds to the attached workflows you have provided. However, I did find some blog posts that go into the topics you mention relating to inventory optimization that have attached workflows:
For preventing stockouts:
More general article covering several aspects of inventory management:
I would check out the ones I linked as they have a blog post on them with the workflows attached.
For the workflows attached, I took a look at their data sources and it seems the main headers from the tables it uses are:
If you are looking for what data you need, I would start with at least those columns above I sent. Again, I would also take a look at those other workflows/blog posts as they have explanations with them.
Thank you - this was helpful as was just going through ‘assumptions’ of the data points and validating with calculations. Looks like the actual data is fairly minimal with lots of calculations making up the rest prior to the data input, and one other input seems to only capture parent product attached to the SKU/Products and the remaining data elements are used. Appreciate the input.
