Hi @JaeHwanChoi,
thanks for the report! This is very likely the same issue as was reported here: KNIME 5.2.0 - Empty Node Repository
We are working on a bugfix, making the repository loading more resilient against errors caused by loading problematic extensions.
In the meantime, you can work around the problem by uninstalling the problematic extension(s). In your particular case, you would have to uninstall some (hopefully unused) extensions and see when the repository begins to load again.
Sorry for the trouble!
Best,
Manuel
Is there any easy way to go back to 5.1?
AI tools and a better UI are nice and all, but they don’t mean anything if your base product (nodes) are not working. Maybe a little more QA testing before pushing the next software update…
Hi @brobards
I’ve tended to install KNIME versions using the zip file rather than the installer. That way you can have different versions side by side on the same pc. I’ve got 4.7.7, 5.1.2 and 5.2 all coexisting. That’s not intended as any kind of criticism but rather to let you know that this option is possible as it isn’t widely known and you might be interested in taking that approach for next time.
I give each environment different workspaces though so that they don’t conflict and only move across fully to a new version if I’m happy that all is ok. Going back from 5.x to 4.x can be problematic for workflows, but I’d think less so from 5.2 to 5.1.x
In your case I imagine you’ve not been able to get 5.2 running so there should be not problem putting 5.1 back and continuing with the old workspace. You’ll need to reinstall any extensions though and any settings you’ve changed.
You can pick up the 5.1.x zip or other installation files from
https://www.knime.com/download-previous-versions
It’s clearly frustrating when things like this happen but I think the KNIME team have been putting a lot of effort into QA and also involved members of the forum to widen the net a little, but with any complex software things can unfortunately slip through. I have no knowledge of the specific issue but I think this may well be caused by certain extensions being installed or some other edge case as I’ve not seen it myself.
It would probably be useful for the developers to know what OS you are on, how you did the 5.2 install (upgrade or clean install) and what extensions you have installed from community or from KNIME.
I hope there is a fix for your problem soon but in the meantime I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Same problem for me. I have just uninstalled the last three installed extensions (Palladian, NodePit, Geospatial Analytics). No change. I don’t really have the time or inclination to uninstall any more extensions at random, so I’ll just keep using the classic user interface until the bug is fixed.
Problem occured after installing NodePit 5.2. Uninstalling Sentry Nodes did the trick.
