@wiswedel I just stumbled upon a potential major problem. In the 5.9 there seem to be massiv changes to the List File Folder node that might break several workflows:
This is how the List File Folder does look in 5.8.1 LTS RC3:
There you can now choose different option which all result in some new form of KNIME URL with a location and a folder. When wandering out of the area of the local /data/ folder you cannot click back and would manually have to edit the path in the URL.
My fear is that these changes are very confusing and they might break existing workflows once you start editing them. People will have to re-learn to use the KNIME-URL (which I was an initial great fan of ).
Can you confirm that you see this with the 5.9 preview release? I think this change is only for 5.10 (so it’s neither in 5.8.1 RC nor in 5.9 Preview) - this is the internal reference, AP-25323, and its target version is 5.10.
I am going to raise this concern with the team. It’s better discussed in a separate post.
Thanks for the explanation – this was my fault. The link I shared above points to the nightly build extracted from our master branch, which includes more features than what will be released with version 5.9. I can confirm that this particular change is targeted for 5.10. I’ve also seen discussions about it in the team channels, so I’m confident it won’t be released in its current form.
We’ll be discussing with the team how to provide a proper release candidate (not a nightly build) when sending out those messages. We’ll also talk about how to accelerate the version number transition from 5.9 to 5.10 in our nightly builds.
