Knime HUB: Academic Credits

I understand that this may not be possible, or hard to implement, but it would be nice if I could offer my students free credits so that they can see their workflows running in the cloud.

For one, it will help the students understand real-world “automation,” and two, get them thinking about how to build tools that can be used across a firm.

Context: I used KNIME in a non-coding MBA class last semester, and based on some of the enhancements to support Agentic Workflows, it might be nice to show students the benefit of a deployment process beyond manually running a workflow on their laptop.

I know it’s no simple task to provide this, but these academic programs generally operate under this pattern:

  1. The instructor submis a form requesting credits for their class. On this form you verify our profile at our institution, ask how many students, describe why we are requesting credits, etc. GCP uses this form.
  2. You approve or deny the request.
  3. You email the instructor a link that students can use to redeem credits to their account. This link can be restricted to the domain of the institution.

Again, a shot in the dark, but figured I would ask as I look ahead to the fall semester.

Dear Brock,

Not a shot in the dark at all: We have been offering Team plans for teaching and non-profit research since the launch. And this is just one benefit for the members of our Educators Alliance. @alinebessa will reach out to you shortly about the details!

Side note: Deployment is also a topic that we regularly deliver guest lectures on

Best regards,
Stefan
