Lost a script I was working on, any way to retrieve it?

I was working on a script all day yesterday and I open my computer today to find the script is in the same state it was yesterday morning. I guess I forgot to hit save when I closed? I’ve looked hard but can’t find any trace of my work. I’m used to having autosave in classic interface but by the sounds of it the new interface doesn’t support autosave yet? Ugh…

I’m wondering when I’m working on a script and I haven’t saved it yet, where does the new data sit? I’m hoping I could retrieve that…

Really painful to lose a day’s work so easily.

Hello @nick_the_best,

Welcome to the community!

When the workflow isn’t saved, the data is stored in main memory on your comp as I have tried looking to see if there was any changes to the metadata files in the workspace, but there are no changes that occur until you hit save.

If you are looking for a solution to having a backup, @mwiegand just recently posted a updated way to backup your workflows:

Hope this helps,

I never paid attention to that as I disable auto save on purpose since it, more than once, interfered with execution and causes stuttering and other issues when crunching large data sets. Anyways, is there really no auto save on MUI? Hard to believe as it is a background process, isn’t it @thor_landstrom?

PS: Thanks for the mention of my workflow

Unfortunately there isn’t an option to activate the auto-save functionality for MUI as of yet as it is tied into the Classic Interface, @mwiegand.

There is a ticket that is open NXT-2765 to get this to MUI ( I went ahead and added a +2 to it as I also think its a much needed feature) This is specifically for auto saving open workflows.
