New KNIME Community Coming Soon!

Hi everyone -

We’ve got exciting news - the KNIME Community is leveling up! We welcome you to join us at community.knime.com!

Scheduled for late May, we’re moving from this, our Discourse-based forum, to a new hosted solution - the KNIME Community. It’s a more powerful platform built for better conversations, events, and learning. The idea is that it’s made up of the same community members you already know, with an upgraded experience and more ways to engage.

Several of our long-time community members have been helping to beta test the new platform in recent days, and as we finalize things I wanted to make you aware of some important details about the transition.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE FORUM?

  • Happening now: Threads and replies from approximately the last 2.5 years transfer to the new KNIME Community.

  • Around 22 May: The existing KNIME forum becomes read-only. You can still browse and search the content, but making new posts will not be possible.

  • Around 27 May: The new KNIME Community opens to everyone. The forum will update with a banner that directs you to the new location.

  • After transition period: The old KNIME forum will stay online for a while yet, but eventually be fully decommissioned. We’ll notify you before this happens.

We hope you’ll join us in the new KNIME Community, and help set us the tone we’re already known for - welcoming and mentoring new folks, and making the space feel vibrant from day one. We appreciate you being with us - for some of you, that’s many years! - and we look forward to your help in shaping this next phase as the Community grows alongside KNIME.

Thanks and happy KNIME-ing,

Scott, Schalk, and the KNIME Community Team

@ScottF Great to see also this forum improving over time and I can’t await the start of the new KNIME community.

One question: Will all users been transferred to the new community or do we have to create our accounts from the scratch again?

One comment: You mentioned that only the last 2.5 years o content will be migrated to the new community. From my point of view we will loose a lot of knowledge as we have lots of excellent community contributions being older which is still valid. Maybe KNIME (the company) should think about it.

Hi @knimediger!

The last 2.5 years of content was the cutoff, but it’s a soft cutoff - if a thread happens to mention an older thread outside of that time window, the older thread got migrated too - and so on recursively. So, we think we got most of the content that is of high value to the community. If we missed something, let us know and we can check on migrating it manually.

You shouldn’t need to create your account again. You’ll be able to just login with your KNIME credentials on launch. Easy
